Whoa how long?

Yes, it has been too long since I last posted and I'm getting very complacent with my blog, I will try my damned hardest to keep updated!

So tonight's fruit.....

I had an awful day, really awful day at work where the next person who pissed me off would of got a five finger middle to the face! (I do not condone violence, but everyone has got that person they would love to punch....)

So I finish work at a stupid time, I go up to my room and begin to unwind my frustration (mainly punching my lockers), oh I don't know if I have mentioned in the blog that I am in the army, which I hope better explains the 'go to my room' bit.

My best friend comes in, he knows I've been pissed off all day, and says 'get your stuff, we're going for a game'.
Now I tried to argue but he wasn't having it and was rushing me like mad. Which weren't good as later on I forgot my money and my phone - not good!!

So we get the the Games Workshop store and wait for a board to free up, we were only going to have a quick 500pt dust then grab some food. That really didn't go to plan!

Long story short, we had to team up our 500pt army and take on someone's 1000pt army, now for the eye opener.....

As we proceeded to put our models on the board ready to deploy we had a shock, me and my friend know what we are taking and had our lists as such, my Black Templars and his Slaaneshi Chaos.

He had Imperial Guard.....

We deployed first, and then we watched as he deployed (now bear with me as I don't know the exact names of them) 2 x leman Russ tanks, 1 with a ordnance cannon, the standard leman Russ setup, the other was a 24" heavy 20 thing. He then deployed the big missile thing that counts down before striking, 2 chimeras but one with a flamethrower thing on tip. Oh and 2 Valkyries in reserve.

Fuck!

The game started and the turns went on, he rolled to see if the game continued, we tallied up our kill points he had 5 we had 8!!!!

Victory was celebrated with a wether spoons hotdog and coke kindly bought by my friend (as if you remember I forgot everything). Just constantly going on how 2 x 500pts close combat orientated armies beat a guard army with 7 pieces of armour.......

Catch Up Time.

I have been lagging in my posts, I have been a bit busy. Catch up time.....

I had a battle a week ago yesterday. 500pts a piece against chaos. Not being able to recall my list exactly, I had a crusader squad, the initiates I can't remember but I had 4 neophytes as my meat shield. 5 man bolter squad with a meltagun. A 5 man assault pack squad with a power weapon and Chaplian.

I was against slaaneshi chaos. The Lord rolled on the boon table - shred.

We set up and he went first, moved his men in position, I had my go and, well as for a Black Templar army nothing stood still and there was lots of running.

Second turn he got his bolters into range and unleash 10 bolter shots and 2 plasma gun shots into my man mob (assault squad hidden behind a building).

As normal the black tide surged forward.

His third turn, he moved all his men backward and shot his salvo again. My assault squad charged The Lord, I6 lord bs I4 marines, I expected losses, he rolled to hit with 4A, all shit..... Dammit.

The roll to wound..... 2,2,1 and 2!! Yes!! I thought! Going to give you a hammering now!!!

Shred.

4,4,6, and 6!

Ahhh poooo!

Catch Up Time.....

I apologise for my lack of posts for the last 6 days. My work and social life have been hectic, but the most time consuming part of my life was getting.....

and what a read it is!

As a Black Templar player, I enjoyed reading all of the codex, not just the BT specific parts/rules. It has been a 'kid in the candy store' kind of thing regard the new Codex.

Writing lists left, write and centre (yes pun intended) over different sets of points values.

Yes the 'Vanilla Marines' get a few more special characters compared to most chapters, I can't complain personally as a BT player, we get 3, and we are a second founding chapter. Whereas the White Scars, a first founding chapter, gets only 1. I guess it has to do with the popularity of the said chapters really.

Getting my painting groove on too. Some pieces to be shown soon, but beware they are works in progress.

Until next time my fellow zealots.

Getting It Right

After deciding on a colour scheme for making Sergeants, Vanguard and Characters stand out with their own 'rank structure armour' paint scheme.

For example an Initiate will have normal white shoulder pads, black helmet and red tabbard.

Sergeant of that unit with have the same as above but have a white helmet.

A sword brother leading that unit will have red shoulder pads and a white helmet.

My vanguard (which are all effectively sword brothers/brethren) will all have red shoulder pads and white helmets, but the leader of that unit will have a white tabbard noting his veterancy and respect.

To make sense if this my emperors champion had a white tabbard as does my Helbrecht (when he's finished).

In my army a white tabbard is of high rank and leadership.

Neophyte -> Initiate -> Sergeant -> Sword Brother -> Sword Brother Squad Leader -> Castellan -> Marshall -> High Marshall.

Obviously with the Emperors Champion it's anyone who has the 'vision'.

That's how I do my ranks and leadership structure, so before I get people saying well that's not right it's how my Crusade is working.

I spent a bit of time trying to get the right kind of red for the shoulder pads today. Please note it's just the bit in the middle, the surrounding is not finished.

Overall I'm happy with how it turned out and the process!

Getting My Paint On.

Having spent a few hours getting some painting done over the past few days, I'm getting quite a bit of pace picking up with my painting and getting back into the swing of things.

My 'batch' I'm painting now is my Helbrecht, my converted Chaplain, 5 Vanguard jump pack squad and my dreadnought.

Doing a theme through out the army.

- Cruaders will have the normal black helmets with red tabbards.
- Sergeants will have white helmets, red tabbards.
- Vanguard, they will all have white helmets and red tabbards, but the Sergeant of them will have a white tabbard
- Emperors Champion will have red cloak and white tabbard.
- Helbrecht will have red cloak and white tabbard.
- My Chaplain will have an all over red cloak as I've minor converted Asmodai to be my Chaplain.

More updates soon!

Up To Date

Well today is my first day back at work after 3 days off. It was worse than I thought.

Tonight I'm getting to grips with a little painting. My 5 man Vanguard unit, High Marshall Helbretcht, My Converted Asmodai Chaplian and my dreadnought.

Pictures will be starting to appear soon.

Got the painting fever bad. I'm not the biggest fan of painting, I prefer to game, but when I do get painting I'm quite pleased with the results (other opinions may vary).

Short but to the point post as I'm tired as hell after work, going to crash out with a cold bottle of Pepsi max, only fools and horses on the tv and the new White Dwarf.

Good night all.

Clean Up

I don't know about anyone else, but since I first began, looking at 10/11 years ago, there's had always been a problem with 'bitz'.

I am quite OCD orientated, and my CDs, DVD's and games all have to be in alphabetical order etc.

So when it came to having and storing 'bitz' it just hit me to get a big tub and store them like that.

What a mistake that was, over the time I've been in the hobby I've amassed a vast quantity of 'bitz' from space marines, empire soldiers, lizardmen etc.
So I went to my local hardware store and brought this

I couldn't be happier!

All separate compartments for my marine  'bitz', as that's what I'm concentrating on right now. It is now so much easier having just a compartment for just my Black Templar 'bitz', a bit for upgrades etc.

I am so happy, it cost me £4.99 and worth every penny. I also got a small tool case for my paints, brushes, basing kit etc.

I recommend them to anyone.

Getting S**t Done.

Well I got the paints I needed and started to have a good paint session today, my focus was my 5 Man Assault squad and Venerable dreadnaught.

While it is a 'Venerable' model dreadnaught, I'm using it as a normal one, it's just that I prefer that model to the normal one.

I tried as much as I could but my attention got caught with what was on Netflix every now and again (QI XL and Mock The Week).

Just for informational purposes here's my Emperor's Champion.

It doesn't show the paint job and detail off as it actually is due to my camera phone (and maybe bad lighting) but its my corner stone of my army.

I'm getting my hands on the Assault Squad my friend wants trade soon. Can't wait!

He's a good lad!

Also I've been going over the new 'rules', I do quote because as I said before I won't take it 100% until I have the rule book in my hands but here they are....

Not looking good for my fellow Templar players....

Game Night

Just been to a local shop game night with my good friend. Was an eye opener to what else is out there apart from your good old Games Workshop line of game (which to be fair they have a good selection, the 2 main games aside).

Had an hour or so play a game called Dreadball!

I have to say it was frantic, fast and a hell of a lot of fun. Quick turns, easy rules and a general fun pace. Obviously I never played it before and my friend was explaining the rules and within half an hour I think I had a good grasp of what was going on. Though he did know the rules better than me (yes he won, lets get it out there....ok!).

The shop itself was a good place too, all the different games being played and seeing some old faces from the GW store was cool as well.

Earlier today I went to GW to get my paints I needed. See my previous post. I was there, well first off I haven't needed to go there since my friend at work had the paints, so when I was looking for Chaos Black, Skull White, they were no where to be seen. It's all been rebranded with 'base' paints and 'layer' paints, have I really been out of the hobby that long?

All in all today was productive and I got seduced by my friends models he wants to 'trade'. The models themselves look amazing and fit right in withy Templar army, just one question.....

What does he want for them? I want them now!!

New Stuff That Is Incoming

While reading various sites and blogs, the flurry of new things that are coming look quite good.

With the release of Sternguard, Vanguard, Centurions (Assault & Devastator variants) the Anti-Air Gun/Rhino etc....

If I have forgot anything forgive me.

But what I am excited about is the Centurions (preparing flame shield....). The assault variant, well, those drills don't like particularly good. I understand the reasons for them, but it's not my cup of tea.

The ones I am looking forward to are the Devastator Centurions....
(Apologies for bad picture quality)

To me these look awesome in these colours, my colours, the correct colours!!

If I'm correct in reading that the Black Templars can take Centurions though there will be a couple of drawbacks. I'm still happy I can get some heavy weapons.

Yes I know there are Lascannons on Land Raiders etc.

It's the jump from being able to have a 5 man squad with a heavy weapon, yes I know it's beardy, yes I know it's very untemplar like, but the reaction I get when an opponent who I tell I have Black Templars and thinks "Great, lots of things to shot as they run towards me."

That is not the case, in my old games years ago when I first got into the hobby I started with Black Templars and I fielded my Land Raider Crusader (with Terminators and Marshall), 2 man mobs (1 with Emperor's Champion) then 4 x 5 man squads with heavy weapons. When they see 4 Lascannons being set up, oh the reaction is savourable! Seeing them wrack their brains re-thinking the tactics and wonder what they're going to concentrate their fire on - heavy weapons, LRC, 2 x man mobs or Assualt marines with Reclusiarch w/jump pack!

The new Centurions are going to be a massive welcomed bonus to my current army! Enough to sow seeds of oblivion to chaos heretics in one manner and slap the Sons of Sparta in the face in the other!

Disclaimer - I have a friend who plays chaos and another making a Sons of Sparta chapter, hence the smack talk about them.

Just A Quick One

I don't know about any of you, but today as I sat down I let out a long sigh of disappointment.

I got my figure case open on the dining table, water pot, tile, ALL the marines I needed to paint/touch up, they're all under coated ready for my efforts for today.

My point is thus - have you ever sat yourself down to paint, and I mean for a good paint session and..... You don't have the paints you need.

I didn't have (forgive my lack of prefix of the names of paints) black, grey and white.

Quite important for a Black Templar army.

Damn.

Time To Paint

With the up and coming 6th edition Space Marine Codex I've decided to get into gear with painting my Black Templars.

My friend constantly nags me to get a move on with painting them (to be honest I'm more of a gamer than painter, but my painting and modelling isn't too bad) but I have been very lax with getting around to it.

The new 6th edition rules are out, and I know nothing about them, so a quick scan over my friends rule book will be a must. Though due to no 'new' Codex at the minute I'm going with the old Black Templars Codex.

I've seen/heard numerous rules/rumours that with be included to the Black Templars new list (albeit either in the Space Marine Codex, which is most likely to what I hear, or their own Codex, which I'd love to be honest) and I'm mixed with what I'm hearing.

Well until the Space Marine Codex is released it is all speculation though some people have 'good sources' and I won't knock that. If they have the information then that's brill, but I will prefer to have the Codex in my hands before planning any purchases/list shuffles.

First Blog!

Well this is my first attempt of a blog of any kind.

I will try and keep updating daily and will be posting many things about me and my life. Hobbies, Career, etc.
